Two year Olds

King's Kids Academy Madison WI

Welcome to the Terrific Twos: Where "I Do It!" is the Official Motto

Whoever coined the phrase "the terrible twos" clearly never watched a two-year-old proudly put their shoes on the wrong feet and declare themselves a master fashion icon.At King’s Kids Academy (KKA), we banish the word terrible. We call them the terrific twos because independence is an incredible milestone. Two-year-olds know exactly what they want, and more importantly, they want to do it by themselves (even if "it" involves trying to butter toast with a plastic block).

Step Into Their World

Our teachers operate on a golden rule: We are guests in the world of the two-year-old.Learning independence is exhausting work—both for the tiny human navigating it and the adult trying to watch them. Because patience is basically a required uniform accessory in the Twos Room, our teachers have it in absolute spades.

Mastering the Art of "Me Do It"

Independence doesn't just happen; it takes practice, teamwork, and a lot of deep breaths. Our Twos Room focuses heavily on building essential life skills:
  • Self-Help Superpowers: From washing hands to learning the dreaded mountain that is potty training, independence is taught, practiced, and cheered on every single day.
  • Social Smarts: Sharing space, feelings, and toys with other tiny dictators-in-training is a core curriculum here.
Structure Meets Freedom

As our twos grow, their days start getting a bit more rhythm. We introduce a healthy balance to help them navigate choices:
  • Teacher Choice Time: Learning how to follow group directions and discover new concepts.
  • Kid Choice Time: Empowering them to pick their own activities and steer their own creative ship.
At King’s Kids, we don't fight independence—we celebrate it, coach it, and marvel at the tiny humans they are becoming!
